- Dotz: Of course, you will need the dazzling dots. Diamond Dotz come in two different shapes- round and square. Some Diamond Dotz patterns will include round beads, which beginners prefer as they tend to be easier to place and more forgiving. Square dots create a more solid-looking image but require slightly more precision. Both shapes have geometrical qualities that cause them to sparkle.
- Stylus: Every craft kit will come with a stylus included. You use the stylus to pick up the dots to place them onto the canvas. The stylus can be used to pick up one dot at a time or multiple dots if you use its opposite end.
- Wax: The stylus needs to be dipped into the wax to pick up the dots. This does not have to be done often, as long as the beads stick to the stylus.
- Craft tray: These trays are designed to hold the Diamond Dotz in a way that is easy to pick up with the stylus. By shaking the tray lightly, the dots will form themselves into rows facing the right way up.

Tips and Tricks When Using Diamond Dotz Crafts
Now that you know what’s required, how does this exciting activity work? While it is a straightforward process, some tricks will help you along the way.
Below are the step-by-step instructions to get you started.
- Big picture: Lay your canvas on a large flat surface, preferably a table. You’ll see a key on the side of the canvas that corresponds all the colours in your kit to your picture. If you look closely at your canvas, you’ll see tiny numbers printed directly onto the fabric. These need to match with the correct colour.
- One at a time: Pick one colour, to begin with, and pour a few dots into the tray. Gently shake the tray let the dots neatly arrange themselves. The dots should have their flat side facing down.
- Little by little: You’ll notice that there is a thin plastic film over the canvas. To avoid the painting losing its adhesiveness, peel only a tiny section away from the canvas at a time. Try not to leave this plastic film off when you’re not working on it.
- Dip, dot and repeat: Dip your stylus into the wax and then use it to pick up a dot from the tray. Carefully press this dot onto its corresponding colour on the canvas. Well done, you’ve dotted your first Diamond Dotz painting. Now repeat this step until you’ve completed the picture.
